OUR CLUB

The Pacific Blades Speed Skating Club has been in existence since August 2004 and currently has membership ranging in age from kids 8 years to adults in the 35-45 age-group. The club skates twice per week - Mondays at 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm and Wednesdays at 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm.

Speed skating is an excellent from of aerobic fitness while at the same time being gentle on the joints.  The club has skates that you can use as part of your membership and offers assistance with sharpening and other equipment issues.

The experience level is generally enthusiastic beginners with the exception of a few BC CUP skaters and a Provincial skater.
The opportunity to participate at any level exists, from adult fitness to competitive youth. Instruction is given for all levels.

There are unlimited speed skating competitions throughout BC and our youth members regularly participate in meets throughout the lower Mainland and BC.

Speed skating is an excellent from of aerobic fitness while at the same time being gentle on the joints. We operate a safe environment and have safety mat coverage for outside corners.

We currently have one certified coach. We look forward to growing our club with members from Gibsons, using both rinks and hope to reach the point where membership supports professional coaching, clinics and local competition. Leading up the 2010 Olympics we expect heightened interest in speed skating from the Sunshine Coast.
Remember, 14 of the 24 medals were won by Canadian speed skaters in Turin 2006
